🚗 OEM Auto Platform — Software Defined Vehicle
Exodus Auto SDV — the vehicle the way you like it
Exodus Auto SDV — summary
Exodus Auto SDV is a demonstrator of an automotive OEM website built around the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) concept. It shows how a manufacturer can evolve a vehicle after its sale through software, OTA (Over-The-Air) updates and on-demand feature activation.
The principle: the customer buys a vehicle with a compatible hardware and electronic architecture, then can evolve its features throughout its lifetime.
1. The vehicle becomes a software platform
In a traditional architecture, features are fixed at manufacturing time. SDV introduces a different logic: hardware is the foundation and software evolves the vehicle.
The chain becomes: Vehicle → Connectivity → OTA → Software → Activation → New feature.
2. An SDV feature catalog
- Connectivity & commands — remote lock/unlock, remote pre-conditioning, real-time vehicle status, trip history, Wi-Fi hotspot.
- ADAS — AEB, ACC, LKA, TSR, Traffic Jam Assist.
- Energy management — charge planning, smart charging, eco-optimized routes, battery preservation.
- Security & protection — geofencing, anti-theft mode, dashcam / sentry mode.
- Autonomy — highway assist L2+ then L3, depending on vehicle and homologated zones.
3. Packs and subscriptions
- Essential — €5/month: connectivity and remote control.
- Advanced — €15/month: more ADAS, energy management and personalization.
- Autonomy — €30/month: premium features and automated driving (depending on vehicle).
The business model no longer relies solely on the initial sale: software services accompany the vehicle throughout its lifecycle.
4. The technology behind SDV
The architecture is presented by domain: Powertrain, Cockpit, E/E Architecture and ADAS. For the electric powertrain: HV Battery → BMS → Inverter → Motor + Reducer → Wheels.
SDV requires a complete infrastructure: powerful or centralized ECUs, high-speed networks, Cloud connectivity, software rights management, cybersecurity and OTA update mechanisms.
5. OTA activation and rights management
Activation process: Subscription → Vehicle identification → Hardware check → Rights management → OTA download → Installation → Validation → Activation.
SDV capabilities depend on the vehicle and its equipment: specific sensors, computing power, homologation.
The complete SDV loop
Customer → Offer → Subscription → OEM backend → OTA → Vehicle → ECU/HPC → Feature activation → Customer service.
Exodus Auto SDV illustrates the shift from a traditional OEM to a software car manufacturer: Hardware + EE Architecture + Software + Cloud + OTA + Services + Subscriptions.
